Number series questions for bank exams- We all know that in all competitive exams expected number series related questions is mostly asked and specially in Bank Recruitment Exams. So, today we are presenting some of the number series questions which are likely to be asked/already asked in various IBPS, SBI, RBI, NABARD, LIC competitive exams. Question 1. What is the next number in this sequence 9, 14, 4, 9, ?
(1) 18
(2) 10
(3) 1
(4) -1
(5) 9

Correct Answer: ?



Solution:
Ans Method 1. Difference of progressions =
9 to 14 (+5)
14 to 4 (-10)
4 to 9 (+5)
So the final ans. would be -1

Ans Method 2
Given series is 9, 14,4,9
Let us take the difference of 2 consecutive numbers at a time
We get 5, -10, 5,
This follows a pattern as 5, -10,5, -10,5
Next term is -1

Ans Method 3
9, 14, 4, 9, d
14 - 9 => 5
4 - 14 => -10
9 – 4 => 5

means alternative 5 and -10
=> d - 9 = -10
=> d = -10 + 9
=> d = -1
Next Number is -1
