2. Web portal launched for allocation and monitoring of coal resources:
Another move in making transparent governance, Union minister of state (IC) for power, coal new and renewable energy launched the web portal for distribution of coal by state distribution agencies. Motivates states for paperless communication digitizing all the information. It will save time and energy of govt organizations.

3. FCI’s depot online system has been launched by the Union Government:
Depot Online System of state run Food Corporation of India (FCI) has been launched by the Union Government to carry transparency and minimize storage losses of food grains. The Union Food and public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan have launched this system in New Delhi as part of Digital India initiative of Union Government.

With this system the real time monitoring of FCI operations and enhance transparency and efficiency will be done easily. The project is implemented in the FCI owned 553 depots and subsequently FCI hired godowns will be also brought under the range of the project later.

4. India signs USD 35 Million loan with World Bank:
World Bank approves USD 35 million credit agreement to Madhya Pradesh for the Citizen Access to Responsive Services Project. Total cost of the project is US $50 MN out of which World bank will provide 35 mn dollar while rest will be funded by state budget.

5. TCS named official tech partner for London Marathon:
India’s leading IT services provider Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) announced a partnership with the Virgin Money London Marathon for three year
Now TCS will become the race’s Official Technology Partner for 2016, 2017 and 2018 events.

6. Angry Birds character “Red” is UN ambassador for climate change:
Secretary General Ban Ki-moon named Red, the starring animated character in the soon to be released “The Angry birds Movie” as an honorary UN ambassador to encourage young people to go “green” and step up action to tackle climate change.
The campaign, in partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment, the U.N. Development Program, and U.N. Foundation, asks people around the world to make the Angry Birds happy by taking actions to combat climate change such as recycling, taking public transportation and conserving water.

7. Indian student wins Noor Inayat khan prize:
An Indian student Geetakshi Arora is the winner of the first Noor Inayat Khan Prize for 2016, the London-based Noor Inayat Khan Memorial Trust announced on Saturday.
Geetakshi Arora, a post-graduate student of the South Asia Institute at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, won the prize — which consists of £1,000 and a certificate — for her dissertation on “Goddess Myths in Graphic Novels: Reimagining Indian Feminity”.
