World happiness Index: India ranks 118 out of 156 countries
India ranked 118th out of 156 countries on the United Nations world happiness index (WHI) 2016. It was revealed by the fourth world happiness report 2016 and published by the Sustainable development solutions network (SDSN), a global initiative for the UN.

In 2015 India was at 117th in the happiness list. According to the report 2016, Denmark takes the top spot as the happiest country in the world. It has replaced Switzerland.

First electrical double decker bus operated in London:
The world’s first fully electric-powered double-decker bus has unveiled in London a month ahead of its road release. Being built by Chinese manufactures BYD will be able to travel 180 miles on a single charge. The buses are expected to cost more than $ 350,000.

PM Narendra Modi is among the most influential people on the internet:
Times Magazine said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among ‘The 30 Most Influential People on the Internet’ for the second year in a row in this year’s unranked list.

The list includes US presidential hopeful Donald Trump, TV star Kim Kardashian and her husband Kayne West, author J K Rowling, former Olympic athlete Caitlyn Jenner and soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo.

14 Indian investors among world’s top 100 Venture capitalists:
A total of fourteen Indian investors have featured in a list of top 100 venture capitalists in the world. The list has been compiled by CB insights a research firm that tracks angel and venture capital investments across the globe.

India aviation show 2016 begins in Hyderabad:
The India Aviation 2016, an international exhibition and conference on civil aviation kicked off in Hyderabad, Telangana. It is the fifth edition in the biennial series of this international exhibition and was inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee at the Begumpet Airport (also known as Hyderabad Old Airport).

Punjab assembly unanimously passed the Punjab Sutlej Yamuna link canal land bill 2016. The bill was passed in contradiction of the construction of contentious Sutlej Yamuna Link.

The Indian prime minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to join the league of the most prominent world leaders at the world famous Wax Museum Madame Tussauds in London.

SBI partners with Uber for instant vehicle financing:
Public sector lender SBI has tie-up with taxi-aggregator Uber to provide instant vehicle finance to ‘driver-partners’ on the latter’s platform. The scheme would encourage skilled drivers to overcome liquidity crunch and excess documentation requirements to become an entrepreneur.

Bharti Airtel buys Videocon Telecom for Rs 4,428:
India’s largest telecom operator by subscriber base, Bharti Airtel, said that it has acquired Videocon Telecom for Rs 4,428 crore.
With this, Bharti Airtel will get the rights to use 2X5 MHz od spectrum in the 1800 band allocated to Videocon by the government on April 5th, 2013.

Indian became second investor in London:
According to the London & partners the official promotional company for London, India has emerged as the second biggest investor in London after the US.
The company revealed that there has been 1 117 per cent increase in Indian companies across all business sectors investing in London since 2005.

Actor Michelle Yeoh appointed as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador:
Michelle Yeoh, the award winning action heroine has been appointed as United Nations development programme (UNDP) goodwill Ambassador.

Ashley Judd appointed UN Goodwill Ambassador:
American actress Ashley Judd has been appointed as their latest Goodwill Ambassador by united Nations.

Paul Daniels, TV Magician, Dies Aged 77:
Newton Edward Daniels has died aged 77, after being diagnosed with a brain tumour. Daniels is best known for his BBC TV series The Paul Daniels Magic Show which ran from 1979 to 1994. He achieved international fame through his television series.

Shennai Exponent Ustad Ali Ahmad Hussain Khan passes away:
The 77 year old Shennai maestro, Ustad Ali Ahmad Hussain Khan passed away leaving his mesmerizing Indian classical tunes with the world.
Representing the Benaras school of Shehnai music, he was felicitated with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2009 for his contribution to Hindustani instrumental music.
