  1. Gujarat became the first state in the country to take up Public-Private Partnership Projects.The projects are for in-situ redevelopment of slums in urban areas.This is under the recently launched Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana (Urban).

    1. Iran is now taken out of the restricted prior referral category (PRC) of countries for issuing visas. For PRC countries, Indian visa is granted only after scrutiny of individual’s background by its mission or consulate in that country.

    1. The US Senate passed long-pending IMF reforms.These will give enhanced representation to emerging economies like China & India. Under the new regime, China’s vote at the IMF would increase from 3.8% to 6%.

    1. The Union Textiles Minister recently launched the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system in Varanasi. National Handloom Development Corporation Ltd (NHDC) became the first PSU under the Ministry of Textiles to have an ERP system. This system aims to boost productivity with more efficiency, decrease costs and ease supply of raw material processes in NHDC.

    1. Ministry of Home Affairs sent back the pending anti-conversion Bills of Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh.The Rajasthan anti-conversion Bill was passed by the Assembly in 2008. According to the bill, anyone who is abetting religious conversion can be put in jail for five years and can be fined up to Rs. 50,000.

    1. Bosch Signs Pact to Train Students of 24 Maharashtra ITIs. It will conduct Bosch’s Response to India’s Development and Growth Through Employability Enhancement (BRIDGE).

    1. India and China conducted their first joint tactical exercise in eastern Ladakh in order to ensure greater interaction between troops deployed along the Line of Actual Control and to boost bilateral military confidence building measures (CBMs).

    1. Former Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) Nandan Nilekani spoke about the National Payments Corporation of India’s (NCPI) new open source platform called Unified Payments Interface, which is for mobile-to-mobile fund transfers without account details.
