SSC CHSL 2015 Exam Pattern, Syllabus and Expected Cutoff Marks

Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam – 2015  (SSC CHSL) examination date has been rescheduled to 1st & 15th November and 6th & 20th December 2015.

SSC CHSL is organised by Staff Selection Commission for recruitment of candidates for posts of Data Entry Operator. The written test will be followed by typing test for the post of Postal Assistant & Sorting Assistant (PA/SA) and Lower Division Clerk on Computer. The test will be conducted in offline mode.

SSC CHSL POST DESCRIPTION:
Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Lower Division Clerk (LDC) are  Group C type of jobs and fall under pay band-1.
These jobs are for various government ministries, departments and offices.
Data Entry operators jobs typically means processing of data whereas Lower Division Clerks are to cover registration , maintenance, indexing, recording, typing, comparing and preparing statements.
Eligibility
  • Age Limit:18-27 years as on 01.08.2015 (Candidates born not before 02-08-1988 and not later than 01-08-1997)
  • Educational Qualifications ( As on 01.08.2015):
    • Must have passed 12th Standard or equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
    • Candidates who have not acquired but will acquire the educational qualification and acquire documentary evidence from the Board/University in support thereof as on 01.08.2015 will also be eligible.
  • Upper Age Relaxation -Relaxation in age will be given for the candidates belonging to reserved category as per the government rules:
    • SC/ST – 5 years
    • PH + SC/ST – 15 years
    • PH + OBC – 13 years
    • PH – 10 years
    • OBC – 3 years

SSC CHSL PROCESS OF SELECTION

Selection process will be divided in two parts – written examination followed by a skill test. Only those candidates who qualify the written examination will be allowed for skill test. Allotment of candidates to various departments will be made on the basis of merit. This means that higher the score in the written examination means better the chances of final allotment. SC, ST, OBC and PH candidates will be adjusted against the general vacancies as per their position in the merit list. Reserved vacancies will be filled separately with eligible candidates from the respective categories. In case where more than one candidate secures equal aggregates marks, a tie breaker will be applied which is as follows:
  • Marks in first part of the selection process (written examination)
  • Date of birth, with older candidates placed higher in the merit list
  • Alphabetical order in which first names of the candidates appear
SSC CHSL 2015 Pattern 
Part I
The written examination will consist of one objective type paper. Total 200 questions will be asked for 1 mark each. (TOTAL 200 Marks )
The SSC CHSL Written Examination will consist of following four sections:
(i) General Intelligence – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
(ii) English Language (Basic Knowledge)– 50 Questions – 50 Marks,
(iii) Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skill) – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
(iv) General Awareness – 50 Questions – 50 Marks
NOTE-I : The Paper will consist of Objective Type- Multiple choice questions only.  The questions except in Part III will be set both in English & Hindi.
NOTE-II: There will be negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer.
Duration: 2 HOURS
Part II  
As per the SSC CHSL 2015 Paper Pattern, This round will be only for candidates who qualify the written examination.
  • Typing Test for LDC
This test for LDC will be conducted in English or Hindi. A candidate need to specify the language of typing while filling the application form. This can be taken on a computer, which would be provided by the Commission or any agency authorized. The candidates who opt for English medium must have a typing speed of 35 wpm(words per limit) and those who opt for Hindi medium must have typing speed of 30 wpm.
Skill Test for Data Entry Operator
Candidates must maintain a data entry speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) key depressions per hour on a computer. Speed of 8000 key depressions per hour on computer will be judged on the basis of correct entry of words/key depressions as per the given passage. Duration of this test will be 15 minutes. Printed matter in English language which would contain about 2000- 2200 strokes/key-depressions would be provided to each candidate.
