Mumbai Central gets Google’s Wi-Fi network. RailTel, the telecom arm of the Indian Railways, on Friday launched free public Wi-Fi service at Mumbai Central station in collaboration with Google and plans to roll out this project to 100 stations across the country by year-end. “This network will extend to cover both long-distance train station and the local train station in Mumbai Central. The next four stations we’ll bring online will be Allahabad, Patna, Jaipur and Ranchi and others will follow very shortly,” Google India Head of Access Project Gulzar Azad said.
INS Vikramaditya, India’s largest naval ship serving as an aircraft carrier, made its maiden overseas halt here in Colombo, marking the first visit by an Indian naval ship to the capital of Sri Lanka in 30 years. On January 15, the science ministry sent its latest notice inviting applications from companies, incubated at STEPs or TBIs, for “Recognition of Service Tax Exemptions.” The key criteria for tax exemptions are that the incubated company be located within a STEP or TBI and that they furnish annual statements of financial performance every year.
