  • It has been the endeavour of the Government to foster an environment of co-operation in matters of taxation through predictability of laws and reduced litigation.
  • In a major push towards providing certainty to foreign investors in the arena of transfer pricing, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has entered into 11 more unilateral Advance Pricing Agreements (APAs).
  • These APAs were signed with Indian subsidiaries of foreign companies operating in various segments of the economy like investment advisory services, engineering design services, marine products, contract R&D, software development services, IT enabled services, cargo handling support services, etc.

Parliament to go paperless


  • When the Winter Session opens, Parliament will go paperless and its corridors will no longer be filled with huge bundles of annual reports and question papers.
  • From this session onwards, annual reports from the ministries, committee reports, private members’ bills, unstarred questions and bulletin -1 will be uploaded on Parliament website.
  • The MPs are entitled to purchase an iPad, whose cost will be reimbursed by Parliament. “Parliament website has been redone and all the reports will be uploaded immediately after they are tabled in Parliament,”.While Wi-fi facility is already available inside both Houses, the Central Hall and the residences of MPs, upgrading Parliament’s internet facility to 4G is also on the cards.
